Example Producer

Our Story

Example Producer is a fictitious family-operated urban farm in Kimberly, Wisconsin. We started with a personal garden in 2008, the bounty of which soon won the attention of passers-by wondering if they might buy some of our produce. That got us wondering how much high-quality, nutrient-dense, organically grown food we could produce on our standard city-sized lot. Today, thanks to some extreme vertical innovations, we exceed more than 1200 pounds each season — all without a drop of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, weed killers, etc. Just good seeds (non GMO, of course), good soil, and lots of loving care.

Our Products

Fresh in season: heirloom tomatoes (all sizes, shapes and colors); sugar snap peas; spinach and salad greens; oregano; basil; cilantro; coriander; raspberries; blackberries; and strawberries.
Canned: spaghetti sauce; raspberry, strawberry and blackberry jams
Dried: Oregano; basil; cilantro; coriander

Canned goods:

We make all our own spaghetti sauce from triple-top-secret recipes, using a special blend of heirloom tomatoes we grow just for our sauces. We season with garden-fresh herbs, 99% of which are also grown by us. Any ingredients that we don’t produce ourselves, we buy local first, and always organic/sustainable.

YES, we practice all organic, extreme vertical gardening. We amend our soil with organic compost produced onsite (sorry, not for sale); hand plant, weed and harvest; use plants as natural pesticides; plant cover crops between growing seasons, and rotate plantings to maximize soil health and nutritional benefit.

Our jams are made with berries we grow ourselves and some we harvest from a handful of patches we’ve found in the forest. The 20 percent of ingredients that we don’t harvest ourselves, we buy local first, and always organic/sustainable.
